Grandma Jeans

We were getting ready to go to Salt Lake this morning and I put "jeans" on Lydia. She said, "I love wearing my grandma jeans!" She knows I call them jeans so she figures they are her Grandma Jean's levis!!

Dogs & Plastic Bags

We went visiting teaching this evening. The lady we teach has two dogs, one is a new puppy. They have new carpet, but they have covered it in plastic so the puppy doesn't pee all over it. Lydia remarked, "She has a plastic bag on her carpet!" Later, she was still thinking about dogs and began to tell us: "Dogs wear collars. They are big. They go for walks. I have a dog at home (stuffed animal) ..." She told the ladies all sorts of things! She is sure soaking up a lot of information from lots of places.

It probly will take two hours!

Tonight we were watching a show that had a funeral seen. When Lydia say the casket at the graveside, she said, "President Hinckley is in there." The only experience she has had with death is the death of President Hinckley.

Earlier today, Lydia was making a tower out of sunscreen, kleenex, and magnets. It tipped over and she said, "I guess I will have to build it again. It probly will take two hours."

It was angry.

I heard Lydia's tummy growl loudly today and mentioned it to her and she replied, "Yeah, it was angry!"

Ready to PAR-TY!

Well, Maren was laying on the changing table and "running" with her arms and legs just a going. Lydia said, "She's running!" I said, "do you think she is excited?" Lydia said, "Yeah, she is ready to PAR-TY!"

Maren loaded her diaper, so we took her to the changing table. When we got there, Lydia raised her fist in the air and with a deep voice said, "Let's get started!! This is a good job to do!"

Test Kitchen Junkie

After Family Home Evening tonight, Lydia requested a show. She wanted to watch "America's Test Kitchen." Yes, my 2 9/12 year old likes watching it!! She was very attentive. She likes the episode with chocolate. Go figure.

Maren had her 4 month old check up with the doctor today. She is right on track. She weighs 13 lbs, 7 oz. and is 23 3/4" long. She is in the 45th and 50th percentiles, respectively and her head circumference is in the 70th!! What is it with us and kids with BIG heads!? While we were waiting in the room for the doctor(an hour wait), Lydia and Maren were goofing around and laughing hysterically at each other! It was so cute! I can already imagine bedtime with two giggly girls! (Deja vu from my childhood- dad pounding on the walls and saying, "Girls, be quiet! Go to bed!")

We need to Fix You!

For you that don't know, Sunday is "Wursry Day." We get dressed in our Sunday clothes and Lydia gets to go to her Nursery Class at church. She loves it! Today she came home with a little fleece blanket with her name on it. I asked her if she learned about the Holy Ghost in Nursery.
She said, "Yes." I said, "who is the Holy Ghost?" She answered, "He makes you feel good and warm like a blanket."

When we got home from church it was raining a little and so when I got inside the house, I had a few raindrops on me and Lydia looking disgusted said, "Mom you got rain on you! We need to fix you!"

When Curtis came home from his morning bishopric meetings, Lydia exicitedly greeted him, "Dad, we got a baby!" Despite the fact that Maren is 4 months old, she is still a WONDERFUL surprise! Lydia said, "I love having this baby here with us...We are so very proud of her!"

We da Black Family

Tonight as we were driving home from Mac's Men's Choir Concert in Salt Lake, Lydia played in the backseat. Curtis and I were visiting, when we heard Lydia say, "Our family is black. Maren is black. Daddy is black...." I guess black is the color of the day!!

When I feed Maren sitting in my bed, Lydia climbs up to join us. Now, we have a new game. Lydia says, "Start your engines! We are going to the Yellow Store!!" Then, she "drives" us all over town to many different houses and colored stores.

On a different note, Lydia regularly greets me by saying, "How's your sister? How are your kids? ...Oh, what's theirs names is?" It is nice to have such a concerned and interested girl!

Shoes!!

Tonight we went to get family pictures taken. We got dressed in our Sunday clothes. Maren had on her cute purple jumper, tights, and pretty black patent leather shoes. When it was Maren's turn to get her individual pictures taken, they sat her in a basket. She would not look up and smile because she was WAY TOO intrigued with her cool new shoes!! We finally had to take them off so she would look at us! Then, I would wave them by the camera to get her attention! FUNNY GIRL!!

Quotes

Three quotables in a row!! Lydia just finished eating a homemade roll wiht butter for breakfast. She came over to me with butter on her face and said, "That was tasty!" Then, she went over to Maren and said, " you have two eyes, two ears, one nose, two chins, and two feet!" Then, she said, "Mom, we two girls just like you!"

In case you were wondering, Cinderella and the Prince were married in the temple today and then went to The Ball.

Dorothy the Goldfish

Well, today Curtis was off work and so we were busy doing many things... He was outside fixing up the "llama trailer" (it doesn't look so much like a llama cage now). I was inside scrubbing down walls, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, and vacuuming. Lydia was helping me wash walls and then her rag became "Dorothy the Goldfish" (sometimes "Dorothy the Worm"). Dorothy got sick and she had to take him to the doctor to get 2 shots. Then, he had to go to bed in a bedpan. He was not to get out of bed and we even had to make him a pillow and blanket. I asked Lydia if Dorothy was a boy or a girl and she said, "No, he is a goldfish!!"

We also had "Julie" at our house. She helped us clean the bathrooms. Lydia helped her get dressed since Julie's mom wasn't here to help her!
