A Prayer

Lydia is getting better everyday with saying prayers. Here is her prayer this morning:
"Heavenly Fader(Father), thank you for the food. Thank you for Maren and Daddy. Thank you for swimsuits and the store. Thank you for grandma's ban(van). In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Baskets

We were headed into Salt Lake the other day and as we were getting ready to go Lydia asked me, "Mom, can I take this?" I told her yes, as long as it fit into the basket she was carrying around. So, on the conversation went,
Lydia:"Can I take this book?"
Mom: "As long as it fits in your basket."
Lydia:"And can I take a blanket?"
Mom: "As long as it fits in your basket."

As Lydia was trying to fit the book in the basket and realizing it wasn't going to fit, she thought for a moment and said, "I need a bigger basket." So, away she went and found a bigger basket and began filling it with treasures to take on our journey!

Sleeping Daddy

Curtis was reading the Ensign today, studying his home teaching lesson and Lydia was reading her "mazagine," The Friend. She went to cooking after her dad was being boring. Curtis would doze off every few minutes. Lydia saw this and he woke up to her putting little doll blankets over his knees. The next time he dozed off, he found her kissing his cheek as he woke. Do you think this has ever been done to her when she sleeps???

Jesus' Tomb

Lydia and Daddy went on an ADVENTURE today. They were picking dandelions and going on a bear hunt. Bears can be found in the ocean. Who would have known? After a while, Lydia found a nice rock and said, "Jesus is going to love it!" Curtis was a little confused, she said, "For his tomb. He love it." She walked over to the air conditioner were she had rocks stacked for Jesus' tomb.

Carly Beautiful

Today I asked Lydia about Nursery and who her friends were in there. She said she played with Carly and then said, "Carly beautiful."

Madeline

Today was a special day because Madeline came to Storytime at the Tooele Library. So, we HAD to go!!! We took Lydia's Madeline costume to wear, but Lydia didn't want to wear it. We went in and heard the three Madeline stories. We got pictures of Madeline and the storyteller and then went to the car. Lydia would not get in the car. She said, "I need to go be with Madeline." I explained that Madeline was going home. She insisted on getting her costume on and going back in. She did. Everyone thought she was so cute and asked, "Can I take a picture of her?!?!?!?" That would be MY cute daugther!!!

Daddy, You are Dirty!

Curtis had been working hard outside and came in. When Lydia saw him she said, "Daddy, your shirt is dirty! You need a new one. ....Daddy, your pants are dirty. You need to change them." So, she proceeded upstairs with him like she normally does to help him choose his clothes. When he got out of his dirty clothes. Lydia observed, "Daddy, you in your underwear!" Curtis, embarrassedly, said, "Yes." Lydia replied, "NICE underwear, dad."

Nice Arms

Lydia was running her fingers up and down Curtis' arms the other day. Then, she said, "Nice hair, daddy."

Lydia says:

It has been a while since I have posted. So, I think I will tell you some cute things Lydia has been saying lately:

L: "Mom, where is daddy?"
M: "Daddy's at work."
L: "But I need to dance with Daddy!"

In case you were wondering, Lydia is wearing her dancing dress today because she HAS to dance! I asked her to get some socks and she said, "Right. Socks." She got out some white athletic socks and looked at her dress and said, "These don't match my dress!" So, she settled on pink tights instead. :) My visiting teaching ladies will be surprised when Lydia comes all dressed up to see them!!! hehe.

Look--Crazy Hair!!

We were at Walmart today and Lydia saw an older lady with dyed, jet black hair. It was pulled up and she had ringlets around her face. Lydia said, "Look, her hair is crazy!" I ignored it and hurried to walk away. We happened past her again on our shopping adventure and Lydia quickly said, "See mom, she has crazy hair!" I quickly turned the corner, laughed, and explained to Lydia that we didn't say that about other people's hair.

L for Lydia

Today, I was watching the news and the weather report came on with the High and Low pressure patterns. Lydia said, "Look, 2 L's for Lydia!" When the screen changed to another view she said, "Another L for Lydia!" Maybe watching the news won't be so much pulling teeth with Lydia, since the weatherman includes her in his forecast!

No, I not Six!

Lydia has been a pretty sick girl this week. She has had a terrible case of viral tonsilitis. The doctor said her tonsils were the worst she had seen. She has had a fever since Sunday, which is normal with this. Anyhow, I was talking to someone on the phone saying Lydia was sick and she hollered at me, "Mom, I not six. I two!!"

New Shirt

Curtis got home from San Fransisco last night late and this morning he gave Lydia her surprises. One was a cute t-shirt. She wanted to wear it, so she put it on. I asked her if she would like some pants, too. She said "No, I'll just wear my legs and be nice and cozy in my blanket."

Sing With Me!

We were having a party with Grandma Porter today. Lydia started some music and singing the "ABC Song." She soon said, "Come on everyone! Sing with me!!"

Later, we were having a spaghetti dinner with peas, grapefruit, and homemade rolls. Lydia decided to dish my peas up for me while I was still getting everything on the table. When I came back, my entire plate was covered with peas and she was still adding more!!! What a helper!

The Bow Stays!

Well, I have finally figured out that pushpins work the best to keep bows on Maren's head. And it doesn't even seem to bother her!

April Fools! ;)
