Boot Camp, Day 1

Well, no luck today. Lydia wore underwear and sat on the toilet, but no hitting the target. We will try again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Potty Training Boot Camp

Well, this week is Potty Training Boot Camp. Yes, Lydia is going to stop wearing diapers! It is time. So, while she has swimming lessons for two weeks, we will be stuck in the house.

Poor Lydia!

Tonight for Family Night we were outside working on the playhouse and playing. The girls were on a blanket on the grass playing. Soon, we heard Lydia crying. She said a bug bit her. Sure enough she had two wasp stings! Poor girl! Then, we discovered that they had been making a nest in the handle of the grill. Needless to say, daddy sprayed and killed the wasps! Mean things! Now my little girl has two red stings on her arm!

The Turkey

Well, the last few nights have not been restful for me. Maren has not been sleeping well. I can't see that she is getting any teeth and don't know why she is so fussy. So, I was mentioning to Curtis that I needed "this turkey(Maren) to sleep at night." Lydia corrected me, "She not a turkey, she a BABY!" I am glad keeps me saying correct things.

The Playhouse Requests Continue...

Curtis has been building Lydia a playhouse. It is two stories high. Lydia wants Curtis to paint it pink. I don't think that will be happening. Curtis has been working on it today and added the slide and stepladder. She came home tonight and said, "Daddy! You got me a green slide!!" She had her arms way in the air and was so excited to try it out. When she got out there it was a little scarier. It is 5 1/2 feet up! After going down the slide with Mom and Dad plenty of times, we came inside to eat. Lydia was looking out and her playhouse and said, "Dad, I need monkey bars!" He said, "What? I have given you all this and now you want Monkey Bars, too???"
:) A true woman-- she always wants a little more... I couldn't help laughing.

The Van

We are borrowing my mom's van for a few days so I could take some girls up to Girls Camp tonight. I told Lydia to get in the car and she replied, "It's not a car- It's a VAN!"

Later she was in the van while I was getting things ready to go. I asked her, "What were you doing in the van?" She answered, "I was loading." (Yeah, loading her diaper!)

Pet?

Curtis bathed Lydia while I went to camp tonight. When I came home and got in the shower to get rid of the campfire smell, this is what I found:

I think we may have a pet fish now. I guess I won't bother it.

What do you think?

While my parents have been gone to New Mexico for the week, Marty decided to take time off work and surprise them by finishing the spare bedroom that has been in the works for over 2 years. On Monday, he worked 8 hours getting wallpaper off the wall to get it to bare plaster. Then, he spent the night sanding by hand and had to take LOTS of Advil. On Tuesday, we were ready to prime and paint. We took the paint samples mom had lying around and chanced on "Celery Stick" for the color for the walls. I hope mom likes it!

Then, it was on to the floor. Marty ripped out old carpet and pad. There was some lovely hard linoleum under that. It was blue and green shades with red and yellowish flowers. After admiring that and debating if we should just leave it, we started the adventure of laying laminate flooring!!!

Now, how are we going to arrange the furniture???

Here is a final picture....I am sharing this as they are away from the internet driving home from New Mexico.

They are NOT shoes!

I asked Lydia to take her shoes off and put them on the rug before going upstairs to go to bed. She replied, "They are NOT shoes. They are SANDALS!" We get corrected regularly on this one, but the other day she slipped and Curtis informed her, "They are not shoes, they are SANDALS!" :)

Lullabies

The other day at bedtime, I told Lydia that I would sing her a lullaby. I asked her if she would sing one to me. She replied, "I don't know any bellalies."

Hop & Fall

Darah and Jennifer (my cousins) are visiting from Georgia and Provo, respectively. Lydia was showing off and enjoying the attention. She was "hopping" (a little jump) and then would fall on the ground. It became a game! She said, "Do you want to see me hop?" So we watched her and Jennifer asked, "Can you hop and not fall after?" Lydia replied, "No, I hop and fall...." Then, she combined the words: "Do you want to watch me Flop?"

Lydia told me this morning that she wanted big hair today. Flashbacks of the 80s & 90s! AGH!! So, I did Just stuck the tails of her ribbon straight up on her head to make it "big." Then, she said, "I a bunny rabbit!"

"I Lydia."

Lydia came up to me and said, "I Lydia. What's your name?" I replied, "Kami." She said, "Oh, Kami Porter. I Kami Porter too." I questioned, "You are?" She responded, "No, I different Porter."

Lunch Orders

I got Lydia her lunch and asked her if she wanted some cold water to drink. She told me, "Yes. And I want a kids meal, no onions, no pickles and fries!" Do you think we go to get hamburgers too often?
